The Business of Business is Business.
The title of this post is a quote widely attributed to Milton Friedman, an American economist, statistician, author, professor and recipient of a Nobel Prize for Economics. The Economist described him as “the most influential economist of the second half of the 20th century… possibly of all of it”.
The reason I like the quote is not because of Friedman’s reputation, recognition, philosophy or contribution to global economics, it’s because the quote is catchy, clever and has a duality that appeals to my love of wordplay.
It also works rather nicely as a line to introduce our newest client, The Business Growth Fund.
The BGF is a major new £2.5 billion equity investment fund backed by five of the largest banks in the UK. Its mission is to recognise and invest in UK companies that have real potential to succeed.
As they put it, their ambition is nothing less than creating the household business names and listed companies of tomorrow.
The sweet spot for the BGF’s investments are UK firms that have demonstrated a strong growth trajectory with a turnover of between £5m and £100m.
However, they’ll be investing far more than just growth capital for these successful companies of the future. The BGF will also provide access to a phenomenal network of connections, bags of knowledge in business and finance and a wealth of strategic and operational expertise.
We share the BGF’s passion for those creative, hard-working and dynamic entrepreneurs who are building the next generation of world class UK companies and are proud to be working with such an exciting organisation.
It’s time to get busy.
